Food Handler
Food Handler Certificate Course
For the past 10 years, the predecessor of our association, the North Toronto Korean Business Association, has partnered with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Toronto Public Health to provide Korean-language exam services for the Food Handler Certificate course. This course is designed for restaurant owners and workers, who make up the majority of our member businesses in the area. Through this partnership, we have contributed to systematic and ongoing food hygiene education in the workplace, supporting advanced operational practices within the Korean restaurant industry.
The Food Handler Certificate, which requires renewal every five years, has been obtained by over 3,500 Korean restaurant workers through our association’s Korean-language lectures and exams. Although the program was temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, it resumed in early 2022 in collaboration with the Food Safety Training organization under a group agreement. Currently, the course is offered in small, individual online groups, with an average of 15–20 participants earning their certificates each month.
